A unique semi-circular Pyrite Sun pendant makes a wonderful gift for anyone with an interest in geology. Pyrite Sun was formed deep underground about 350million years ago, it is a form of crystal NOT a fossil like it sometimes appears.
Pyrite is found in many places worldwide but only Pyrite Sun discs are found in the coal mines of Illinois in the US. It is renowned for the radius of sun like rays that are formed on the stone as the enormous pressure from above pushes the crystals outwards following the line of least pressure.
