A unique Blue John circular pendant with a sterling silver Tree of Life setting.  This pendant is reversible so on one side you get the tree of life and the reverse side it is blue john. Only found near Castleton in the UK, this makes a special gift for those who have an interest in British gemstones.

Our Derbyshire Blue John jewellery features this semi-precious mineral which was formed several million years ago.

Blue John is a form of fluorite with bands of a purple-blue or yellowish colour. The name Blue John may come from a corrupted of the French “Bleu jaune” - “blue yellow”.

It is only found in the UK in one location – the Blue John Cavern and Treak Cliff Cavern in Castleton, Derbyshire.

Blue John is becoming rarer and mining is now extremely limited each year, with only a small amount being made into jewellery.

Due to it being a natural gemstone some of the markings may differ slightly to that pictured, but the quality is unaffected.
