Isle of Skye Marble
Isle of Skye marble is a rare and striking metamorphic rock found on Scotland’s Isle of Skye. Formed from limestone that has undergone metamorphism, it often features beautiful white, green, or blue veining caused by mineral impurities like serpentine. This gives it a unique look, similar to Italian marble.
Historically, Skye marble has been used for decorative purposes in churches and historic buildings. While large-scale quarrying is uncommon today, small-scale extraction has taken place over the centuries, particularly near Torrin on Skye’s southeastern coast.
