Pyrite Sun, a type of fool's gold, is a rare rock formation exclusive to the Illinois region of the United States.

This unique mineral is composed of Pyritic sulphur and was formed approximately 300 million years ago under specific geographical conditions. 

Its iconic disk-shaped pattern, commonly referred to as 'miners' dollars', is the result of sediment pressure allowing the pyrite crystals to develop radially instead of vertically.
