Eco silver (also called recycled silver) is reclaimed rather than newly mined, and goes through the recycling process without losing any purity, it's the same 925 sterling silver quality as new-mined metal, just with a considerably lighter environmental footprint.

Paired with amethyst, February's birthstone and a gemstone long associated with calm and clear thinking, this piece works as both a birthstone gift and a lower-impact alternative for anyone specifically looking to buy recycled precious metal.

• Avoid contact with perfume, skin creams, hairspray and chlorine.
