Originating from the quaint seaside town of Torrin on the Isle of Skye, this delicate pendant is made from marble. Skye Marble jewellery is the perfect choice for those who admire the rugged elegance of the British Isles, especially the tranquil mountain and island landscapes of Scotland.

The oval-shaped Scottish pendant features Isle of Skye marble expertly crafted and refined, elegantly encased in sterling silver with a solid silver back.

Skye Marble is predominantly white, grey and black, with some green and yellow tones, and occasional hints of gold, blue and orange making fascinating markings and striations.

Marble from the Isle of Skye is a rare and beautiful type of metamorphic rock. It is primarily composed of limestone that has undergone metamorphism, often incorporating striking veins of white, green or blue hues due to mineral impurities such as serpentine. This gives it a distinctive appearance similar to Italian marble.

It has a number of uses, including as a decorative building material in churches and historic buildings, and in jewellery. It was used to build Armadale Castle in Skye and Iona Abbey, on the nearby island of Iona.

Isle of Skye Marble is not widely quarried today, but some small-scale extraction has taken place over the centuries.
