Japanese Imari Earrings | Upcycled Porcelain Ovals | Sterling Silver
Oval earrings made using upcycled Japanese Imari ware. They are wrapped in hallmarked 925 sterling silver, with a solid silver back.
Size: 23mm x 15mm
These stunning upcycled sterling silver earrings are crafted from a broken Japanese Imari plate, originally produced in Arita, Japan and exported globally.
The antique porcelain showcases intricate designs in vivid hues, showcasing a variety of bird and floral patterns. Classic styles typically feature a predominant use of blue in an underglaze, complemented by accents of red, gold, and other colours.
Imari ware was specifically created for European consumers and named after the port from where it was shipped. Its production began in the early 17th century and flourished in significant quantities throughout the 17th and 18th centuries. It is still produced to this day.
