Pyrite Sun is a form of fool's gold. This rare rock formation can only be found in the Illinois region of the United States.
The mineral is composed of Pyritic sulphur and was created around 300 million years ago due to the perfect geographical conditions.
The disk-shaped mineralised pattern, also called 'miners' dollars', formed when sediment weight allowed the pyrite crystals to grow in a radial manner instead of vertically.
