Why tiger's eye shimmers
Tiger's eye is a quartz that grew around fine mineral fibres, with iron oxides staining it gold. Those parallel fibres catch the light and create chatoyancy, the moving "cat's eye" effect, from the French chat, meaning cat. A long, curved cut like this shows it at its best.
